ETOWN SLOWS DOWN DELAWARE VALLEY, 86-66, IN MAC QUARTERFINALS; JAYS WILL REMATCH KING'S AT HOME THURSDAY

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa --- Abbie Fabian (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) led five players in double figures with 22 points and added 15 rebounds and five blocked shots as Elizabethtown defeated Delaware Valley, 86-66, in a Middle Atlantic Conference quarterfinal game on Tuesday.

With the win, the Blue Jays (23-2) advanced to meet King's in the conference semifinals on Thursday at home.  Game time is 7 p.m.  The Lady Monarchs earned a MAC semifinal rematch with Etown following a 66-52 win over Messiah on Tuesday.

Allison Lucey (Bethlehem, Pa./Notre Dame) tied a career-high with 15 points and also added nine assists for the Blue Jays.  Kim Boback (Croydon, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds while Shauntae Stancil (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) added 11 points and seven boards.

Alisa DiBonaventura led four players in double figures with 18 points for Delaware Valley (17-8).  Lauren Snyder scored 14 points and added a game-high 19 rebounds for the Aggies.  Jeanne Waznak, the three-time MAC scoring leader, was held to ten points on 3-for-16 shooting.

Etown built a 52-36 lead with 15:30 remaining before Delaware Valley began chipping away at the deficit.  The Aggies cut the Blue Jay advantage to seven points on three occasions, the last time on a layup by Kristen Henry that made it 73-66 Etown with 3:03 remaining.

Keyed by six free throws from Lucey, however, Etown scored the game's final 13 points en route to the win.

The meeting was the first between the teams since the first round of the MAC playoffs in 1989.  Etown, currently ranked first in the Mid-Atlantic region and 11th in Division III, is seeking its fourth trip to the MAC championship game in the past five years.
