BOBACK REACHES 1,000 AS BLUE JAYS OPEN SEASON WITH 65-51 WIN OVER MARYVILLE; STANCIL APPROACHES 1,000-POINT CLUB

ARLINGTON, Va. --- Kim Boback (Croydon, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) scored ten points to become the 18th player in program history with 1,000 career points as Elizabethtown defeated Maryville (Tenn.), 65-51, in the first round of the Pizza Hut Tipoff Classic at Marymount University on Friday.  The Blue Jays (1-0) have won seven consecutive season openers, including a 78-55 win over Maryville last season.

With the win, Etown will face King's (Pa.) in the tournament's first semifinal on Saturday.  Game time is 3 p.m.

Shauntae Stancil (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) led the Blue Jays with 17 points and needs only 17 more to join Boback in Etown's 1,000-point club.  Abbie Fabian (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) added 13 points, a team-high ten rebounds and five assists in the winning effort.

Lesley Roberson scored a team-best 19 points for Maryville, which was held to 16 points on 4-for-23 shooting in the first half.  For the game, the Lady Scots shot just 14-for-47 (29.7 percent) from the field.
