STANCIL SCORES 20 IN 74-48 ETOWN WIN OVER LYCOMING; FABIAN, CHILES POST DOUBLE-DOUBLES AS JAYS WIN FIFTH STRAIGHT

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Shauntae Stancil (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) scored a team-high 20 points and added seven rebounds and five blocked shots to lead Elizabethtown past Lycoming, 74-48, in non-league action on Friday.  With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 7-1 on the season.

Etown's Abbie Fabian (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) posted her sixth double-double (points and rebounds) in eight games this season with 16 points and a career-high 14 rebounds.  Carmen Chiles (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) collected the first double-double of her career with 14 points and a personal-best ten boards to lead the Blue Jays to their fifth straight win.

Laurie Scherer scored a team-best ten points and added six rebounds for Lycoming (4-3).  The Warriors shot only 17-for-71 (23.9 percent) from the field on the night.

Leading 31-23 at halftime, Etown broke open a tight game with a 10-1 run to start the second half.  Stancil scored on a jumper and layup to give the Jays a 35-23 lead.  After Lycoming's Adrienne Wydra connected on one of two free throws, Kim Boback (Croydon, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) scored on a layup and Fabian hit a jumper from the foul line before Stancil capped the run with a turnaround jumper to make it 41-24 in favor of Etown with 14:39 left in the game.

The Warriors cut the deficit to 47-36 with 11:30 left on a jumper from Scherer, but the Blue Jays ran off 23 of the next 27 points to take a 70-40 edge with 3:10 remaining.

Boback scored eight points and moved into 16th place on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,074 points.  Stancil is 18th in on the list with 1,065 points after her 20-point effort.  Etown point guard Allison Lucey (Bethlehem, Pa./Notre Dame) dished out a team-high nine assists.

Etown needs 12 more victories to become the first women's basketball program in NCAA history to record 800 all-time wins.  The Blue Jays return to action on Thursday, January 7, 1999 at Whittier (Cal.) College.  Game time is 7:30 p.m. ET.
