ETOWN DEFEATS SUSQUEHANNA, 79-69, IN COME-FROM-BEHIND WIN

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown came back from a first half deficit to knock off conference challenger Susquehanna, 79-69, Saturday afternoon. Elizabethtown is now 10-2 overall and 4-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth play, while Susquehanna is 8-4 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

The Blue Jays shot 8 for 24 from the field in the first half as Susquehanna charged out to a 30-12 lead with 6:25 remaining in the first half. The Blue Jays managed to get back into the game by halftime, and was down 34-29 by the end of the first stanza. Elizabethtown's offense came alive in the second half, shooting 51.4% from the field and going 11 for 12 from the foul line.

The Blue Jays outscored the Crusaders 50-35 in the second half. However, Susquehanna managed to stay ahead for much of the second half, and even led 60-48 with 6:24 remaining in the game. Elizabethtown won by going on a 23-4 run in the game's final five minutes.

Leading the charge for Etown was first-year Whitney Bull (Berwick, PA/Berwick), who logged career highs of 24 points and 17 rebounds. Bull also went 12 for 14 from the foul line. Other high scorers for the Blue Jays included Abbie Fabian (Denver, PA/Cocalico) and Carmen Chiles (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Mennonite), who scored 12 points apiece. Andrea Thompson (West Lawn, PA/Holy Name) had five assists.

Elizabethtown returns to action at home against Moravian Wednesday, January 19. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
