ETOWN OUTLASTS MORAVIAN, 60-51, FOR SEVENTH CONSECUTIVE WIN

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- In a game which featured 46 turnovers and 93 missed shots, it was Elizabethtown which prevailed in the end over Moravian by a final score of 60-51. The win stretches Elizabethtown's winning streak to seven games and runs the Blue Jays' record to 11-2 overall and 5-1 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth.

The Blue Jays jumped out to a 19-9 lead in the first thirteen minutes, but Moravian pulled to within one point, and the first half ended with a 25-24 score in Etown's favor. Both teams squandered many scoring opportunities, as they shot a combined 18 for 61 and turned the ball over 27 times in the first half.

Moravian (3-10 overall, 0-6 MAC Commonwealth) tied up the score at 39-39 with just over nine minutes remaining in the game, but could not hold on as Elizabethtown pulled away in the game's final two minutes.

Leading the Blue Jays in scoring was Abbie Fabian (Denver, PA/Cocalico), who had 21 points, 11 rebounds and a team leading eight steals. Carmen Chiles (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Mennonite) also had 11 rebounds for the Blue Jays and scored 19 points.

Tara Wozniak (Roseland, NJ/West Essex Reg.) had 17 points for Moravian, and (Seattle, WA/Holy Name-PA) had eight assists.

Elizabethtown returns to action on the road against Juniata Saturday, January 22 at 2:00 p.m.
