HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- Elizabethtown weathered numerous comeback attempts
by conference foe Juniata to pick up its 12th win of the season in an
82-69 victory Saturday. The Blue Jays are now 6-1 in the Middle Atlantic
Conference Commonwealth.
Etown vaulted to a 9-2 lead in the opening minutes, but Juniata tied
the game at 18 with 7:14 remaining in the first half. The Blue Jays again
pulled ahead to a 26-19 lead, and Juniata rebounded to make the score
by halftime 33-31 in Etown's favor. Elizabethtown embarked upon an unanswered
17 point run early in the second half, only to see the Eagles pull to
within five points of the lead with 3:35 remaining in the game. The Blue
Jays went 10 for 10 from the foul line in the final three minutes, pulling
ahead to stay.
Abbie Fabian (Denver, PA/Cocalico) led Elizabethtown with a season-high
27 points while going nine for 11 from the field and 9 for 10 from the
foul line. She also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and blocked
three shots. Whitney Bull (Berwick, PA/Berwick) scored 16 points and grabbed
seven rebounds, and Andrea Thompson (West Lawn, PA/Holy Name) scored 11
points, went nine for nine from the foul line and made four assists.
Danny Young led Juniata with 16 points, and Brandy Preslovich and Mollie
Lyman each pulled down nine rebounds for the Eagles.
