ETOWN OPENS SEASON WITH 73-63 WIN OVER RHODES IN MARYMOUNT TIPOFF

ARLINGTON, Va. --- Elizabethtown opened its 1999-2000 season with a 73-63 defeat of Rhodes Friday, in the Marymount Tipoff Classic.

Etown's Abbie Fabian (Denver, PA/Cocalico) scored the first basket in the first official game ever held at Marymount's Bell Atlantic Sports Arena and led the game with 17 points scored.

Jesse Goldstein (Robbinsville, NJ/Lawrence) had 15 points for the Blue Jays, and freshman forward Whitney Bull (Berwick, PA/Berwick) scored 12 points in her first collegiate game, and led the team with seven rebounds.

The Blue Jays are now 1-0, and will play next at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the tournament semifinals. They will play the winner of tonight's North Carolina Wesleyan—Illinois College game.
