ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S LACROSSE Blue Jays Fall to Messiah, 22-9 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown dropped to 5-4 overall and 4-4 in the Middle Atlantic Conference with a 22-9 loss to Messiah at home Tuesday. Messiah improves to 9-4 overall and 7-1 in the MAC with the win. Etown briefly held a 3-1 lead five minutes into the game as Amanda Simpson (Aberdeen, MD/Aberdeen) scored at 2:27 and Liz Fretz (Parkerford, PA/Owen J. Roberts) scored at 3:19 and 4:51. Messiah went up to stay, 4-3, at 11:20 on a Shannon Scull (Worthington, OH/Thomas Worthington) goal. By halftime, the Falcons held a 12-5 lead. Jen Manns (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) led Etown in scoring with three goals and one assist for four points, and she also led the team in ground balls with seven. Meghen Riegger (Phoenix, MD/Catholic H.S. of Baltimore) scored two goals and added one assist, and Fretz scored two goals with a team high of six draw controls. Jackie Brenton (Laurel, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) totaled one goal and one assist for Etown, and Sarah Scholl (Forest Hill, MD/John Carroll) led the Blue Jays with six caused turnovers and had four draw controls. Etown will return to action on the road Saturday, April 19 at Villa Julie in a 1:00 p.m. non-conference game. at Elizabethtown, Pa.
