Etown Wallops Wilkes, 20-8, Blue Jays Improve to .500 in Conference

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 4-8 overall and 4-4 in the Middle Atlantic Conference following a 20-8 road win over Wilkes University (0-11, 0-9 MAC) Saturday. The Blue Jays led 10-4 at halftime and outscored Wilkes by the same margin in the second half. Etown held a 36-16 advantage in shots over the course of the game.

Liz Fretz (Parkerford, PA/Owen J. Roberts) led Etown in goals scored with six, and Jen Manns (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) added four goals and one assist. Ally Edel (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll School) led Etown in assists with three and tied for the team lead in ground balls with Sarah Scholl (Forest Hill, MD/John Carroll School) with six each, and Amanda Simpson (Aberdeen, MD/Aberdeen) scored two goals and had two assists for four points and scooped up five ground balls as well. Also, Etown junior Tessa Troop (Manheim, PA/Hempfield) tallied her first goal of the season.

Wilkes' top scorer was Danielle McDonald with three goals.

Etown will return to action Wednesday, April 21 at home against Susquehanna University in the make-up of a previously rained out MAC game. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
