Elizabethtown Wins Second in a Row, Pounds Villa Julie 16-8

STEVENSON, Md. --- Elizabethtown improved to 3-4 overall and got its second win in a row by defeating Villa Julie (1-7) 16-8 on the road Tuesday. Etown held a 7-3 edge by halftime and scored six of the game's last seven goals.

Liz Fretz (Parkerford, PA/Owen J. Roberts) scored six goals on six shots and tallied two assists to lead the Blue Jay offense. Ally Edel (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll School) led the Blue Jays in ground balls with nine and in draw controls with six, and she scored one goal. Danielle Grooms (Frederick, MD/Gov. Thomas Johnson) scored three goals for Etown, and Jen Manns (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) and Michelle Collier (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) each scored two goals and tallied one assist.

Manns is now just four goals away from becoming the second player in the four-year history of the Etown women's lacrosse program to reach the 100 career goals scored plateau.

Etown starting goaltender Kelly O'Connor (Newtown, CT/Westover School) made eight saves and allowed just four goals in 41 minutes played.

Villa Julie's leading scorer was Colleen Baughman with three goals.

Etown will return to action at home Thursday at 4:00 p.m. against Middle Atlantic Conference rival Lycoming College.
