ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S LACROSSE Jen Manns Scores 100th Career Goal as Etown Wins Third in a Row, Defeats MAC Rival Lycoming 18-10 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown picked up its third win in a row and improved to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the Middle Atlantic Conference with an 18-10 home win over Lycoming College (3-3, 1-2) Thursday. In that game, Etown senior Jen Manns (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) became only the second player in the four-year history of Elizabethtown lacrosse to score her 100th career goal. Lycoming scored the game's first three goals in the opening five minutes, and Etown scored its first goal at 24:15 left in the first half when Manns, who entered the game with 96 career goals, buried a pass from Sarah Gilson (Ocean View, NJ/Ocean City) in the net. Lycoming went up 4-1 on Erica Likens' (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) third goal of the game at 23:08. Etown tied the score 4-4 at 20:41 when Liz Fretz (Parkerford, PA/Owen J. Roberts) scored her second goal of the game. Lycoming went up 7-4 with goals at 20:25, 17:49 and 16:33, but the Warriors would not score again for the rest of the half as the Blue Jays plowed ahead to take an 11-7 lead by halftime. Manns began Etown's rally with her second goal of the game off a Fretz assist at 12:58. At 9:34, Ally Edel (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) scored for Etown to tie the score 7-7. Manns' 99th career goal came next at 3:14 as she scored off another Fretz assist to give the Blue Jays an 8-7 lead. Fretz scored again at 2:47, followed by Edel at 2:05 to put Etown up 10-7, and Manns nailed goal number 100 off the fourth Fretz assist of the first half with just seven seconds remaining before halftime. Etown out-scored Lycoming 7-3 in the second half, and Manns scored one more time with 3:43 left in the game off an Edel assist. Manns finished the game with a team-leading total of five goals, and she had one assist for six points. Fretz led the team in assists with five, and she also scored four goals to lead the team in points with nine. Edel had four goals and two assists for six points, and she led the Blue Jays in ground balls with seven and in draw controls with six. Edel also had three caused turnovers. Amanda Simpson (Aberdeen, MD/Aberdeen) scored two goals for Etown, and Katie Braid (Parkton, MD/Hereford) and Gilson each tallied one goal and one assist. Dana White (Freeland, MD/Hereford) also scored one goal for Etown. Sarah Scholl (Forest Hill, MD/John Carroll) led Etown in caused turnovers with four, and she had four ground balls and two draw controls. Ashley Owen (Gaithersburg, MD/Col. Magruder) scooped up six ground balls, tallied one assist, and had three caused turnovers for Etown. Jenna Brown (Media, PA/Penncrest) also had one assist for Etown. Goaltender Kelly O'Connor (Newtown, CT/Westover School) made four saves and had one ground ball for the Blue Jays. Heather Suit (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) led Lycoming in goals with four, and she tallied the Warriors' only assist to lead the team in points as well with five. Likens finished the game with three goals. Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Saturday, April 9 at the University of Scranton in a 1:00 p.m. game.
