Blue Jay Rally Falls Short, King's Edges Etown 13-12

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- After a rusty first half, Elizabethtown rallied in the second half but ultimately fell short as King's defeated Etown 13-12 in a Middle Atlantic Conference game at Ira R. Herr Field Monday. King's improves to 8-3 overall and 3-2 in the MAC with the win, while Etown drops to 4-8 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

Etown fell behind 6-2 over the course of the first half as King's out-shot Etown 11-7. King's was up 8-3 with 22:32 left in the game. From 22:14 to 10:05 left in the game, Etown went on an 8-3 tear to tie the game at 11:11. However, a pair of King's goals at 6:45 and 3:50 remaining in the game put the visiting Monarchs up 13-11, and Etown scored the games final goal with just 12 seconds left to cut the gap to 13-12. Over the course of the entire second half, Elizabethtown out-shot King's 21-11.

Liz Fretz (Parkerford, PA/Owen J. Roberts) and Danielle Grooms (Frederick, MD/Gov. Thomas Johnson) led Etown in goals scored with three each, and Fretz led the team in assists with four, while Grooms had one assist. Ally Edel (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) and Michelle Collier (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) each scored two goals. Edel led the team in ground balls with seven, caused turnovers with three, and draw controls with four.

King's top scorer was Lindsay Sabo (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) with five goals, and she led King's in assists as well with three.

Etown will return to action on the road Wednesday, April 20 against Widener in a 4:00 p.m. MAC game.
