Elizabethtown Falls 15-7 to Messiah; Liz Fretz Career Goal Total at 198

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown dropped to 5-10 overall and 3-6 in the Middle Atlantic Conference with a 15-7 home loss to Messiah College (13-3, 8-1 MAC) Thursday afternoon. Messiah out-shot Etown 32-16 and held a 6-2 lead at the half.

Elizabethtown senior Liz Fretz (Parkerford, PA/Owen J. Roberts) led Etown's offense with three goals and with one assist. Her career goal total now stands at 198 with one game remaining to play. Danielle Grooms (Frederick, MD/Gov. Thomas Johnson) scored a pair of goals for Etown. Ally Edel (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) and Jen Manns (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) each added a goal, and Sarah Gilson (Ocean View, NJ/Ocean City) had one assist for the Blue Jays.

Sarah Scholl (Forest Hill, MD/John Carroll) led Etown and all players in the game in ground balls with six and in caused turnovers with four. She also had a pair of draw controls and did not commit a single turnover.

Messiah's Kayte Hall (Landenberg, PA/St. Mark's, DE) led the Falcons in goals scored with five and had one assist. Megan Campbell (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis Christian) scored three goals and had one assist for the Falcons, and Shannon Finch (Finksburg, MD/Westminster) and Abby Boyd (Beverly, MA/Beverly) each scored a pair of goals. Finch led Messiah in ground balls with five, and Hall had four draw controls and four ground balls.

Etown will return to action in its final game of 2005 on the road Saturday, April 30 against MAC rival Moravian College at 1:00 p.m.
