King’s Edges Etown 12-10

WILKES-BARRE , Pa. --- Elizabethtown dropped to 2-7 overall and 2-2 in the Middle Atlantic Conference with a 12-10 road loss to King’s College ( Pa.), which improves to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the MAC with the win.

Etown held a 7-3 lead late in the first half and carried a 7-5 lead into halftime. After both teams scored one goal in the beginning of the second half, King’s went on a 6-0 run to take a 12-8 lead. Etown scored the game’s last two goals to narrow the gap to 12-10.

Katie Foley (Palmyra, NJ/Holy Cross) led Etown in goals with four and in assists with two, and she tied for the team lead in caused turnovers with two. Sarah Gilson (Ocean View, NJ/Ocean City) added two goals, and Katie DiRico (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield), Michelle Collier (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) and Danielle Grooms (Frederick, MD/Gov. Thomas Johnson) all scored one goal and had one assist for Etown. Grooms also led the Blue Jays in draw controls with four. Danielle Schaffer (Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) scored one goal for Etown, and Jignasha Patel (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) had two caused turnovers to lead the team. Amanda Reid (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth Area) led Etown in ground balls with five.

Lindsay Sabo scored six goals and had two assists to lead King’s, and Grace King scored three times for the Monarchs.

Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Wednesday, April 5 at Messiah College in a 4:00 p.m. MAC game.
