ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S LACROSSE Elizabethtown Thumps Moravian 15-2, Blue Jays off to Best Start in Program History ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- A 15-2 road blowout of Moravian College Saturday boosted Elizabethtown College’s record to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference. With the win, Elizabethtown is now off to its best five-game start in the six-year history of the program. The Blue Jays cruised to an 11-0 lead by halftime and maintained a shutout of Moravian until the 54th minute. Elizabethtown out-shot Moravian 32-21 over the course of the game and held a 24-20 advantage in ground balls. Moravian had an 11-8 advantage in draw controls. Anna Ford (Salisbury, MD/homeschooled) led Elizabethtown in scoring with four goals, and she had one assist and two caused turnovers. Katie Foley (Palmyra, NJ/Holy Cross) scored three goals and had two assists, and Katie Caprinolo (Jarrettsville, MD/North Harford) scored twice, had one assist and led Etown in draw controls with three. Kelsea Kozak (Brookhaven, PA/Sun Valley) also scored a pair of goals and assisted another, and Megan Byrnes (Lutherville, MD/Towson) added two goals as well. Stephanie Kreis (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll School) and Danielle Schaffer (Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) each scored a goal, and Kreis led the Blue Jays in ground balls with five and had two caused turnovers. Lynda Kauffman scored each of Moravian’s goals, the first coming on an eight-meter shot at 53:55 and the second scored at 58:10. Etown starting goaltender Jenn Hawkins (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) played 37:35, made 13 saves and did not surrender a single goal. Becca Watkins (Herndon, VA/Westfield) played the final 22:25 in the Etown net and made four saves. Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Thursday, March 29 against Middle Atlantic Conference rival Widener University in a 4:00 p.m. game. At Bethlehem, Pa.
