Blue Jays Use Big First Half to Defeat Goucher, 20-10

TOWSON, Md. --- Junior Katie Foley (Palmyra, NJ/Holy Cross) scored five of her game-high seven goals in the first half as Elizabethtown College routed Goucher College 20-10 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore Megan Byrnes (Lutherville, MD/Towson) added four goals and two assists and first-year student Sarah Cullinan (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) chipped in with a goal and four assists for the Blue Jays (3-2 overall), who led 15-3 at halftime en route to setting a season high for goals.

Kate Knitter and Emily Blatter each finished with two goals and an assist for the Gophers (1-6 overall), who scored the final three goals of the game to narrow the final score.

Nine different players scored for the Blue Jays, as sophomore Stephanie Kreis (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll School) and first-year student Sarah Behounek (Street, MD/North Harford) netted two goals each, while juniors Kelsea Kozak (Brookhaven, PA/Sun Valley) and Anna Ford (Salisbury, MD/Homeschooled), sophomore Alisha Sangrey (Columbia, PA/Hempfield) and first-year student Meg Cassels (Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) tallied one goal each.

Kozak and Cassels each had two assists for Elizabethtown, while first-year student Ashley Mogle (Leola, PA/Conestoga Valley) dished out one assist.

Cullinan led all players with six caused turnovers in the contest, while Byrnes paced the Blue Jays with five ground balls. The Gophers finished with 32 turnovers as a team.

Junior Jenn Hawkins (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) finished with eight saves for Elizabethtown, while Brittany Foster made seven saves for Goucher.
