Blue Jays Tie School Record for Goals in 24-3 Win

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team tied the single-game program record for goals scored in a 24-3 victory over Arcadia University in Middle Atlantic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

Junior Katie Foley (Palmyra, NJ/Holy Cross) scored five goals and dished out three assists, junior Anna Ford (Salisbury, MD/Homeschooled) added four goals and three assists and sophomore Megan Byrnes (Lutherville, MD/Towson) tallied three goals and four assists for the Blue Jays (4-3 overall, 1-1 MAC), who tied the program record of 24 goals set against Hood College in 2002.

The Blue Jays jumped to a 4-0 lead just 3:09 into the first half, and scored the final 10 goals of the half to take a 17-2 lead to intermission. Elizabethtown outscored Arcadia 7-1 in the second half and finished with 40-10 margin in shots.

Junior Danielle Schaffer (Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) tallied three goals and an assist for Elizabethtown, junior Kelsea Kozak (Brookhaven, PA/Sun Valley) notched two goals and an assist, first-year student Meg Cassels (Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) fired home three goals and first-year student Ashley Mogle (Leola, PA/Conestoga Valley) scored twice for the Blue Jays.

Sophomore Alisha Sangrey (Columbia, PA/Hempfield) added a goal and an assist, and first-year student Sarah Behounek (Street, MD/North Harford) tallied a second-half goal for the Blue Jays.

Jakki Timony, Janelle Jablonski and Melanie Mark scored goals for the Knights (3-5 overall, 0-3 MAC), while Katie O'Malley recorded an assist.

Foley led the Blue Jays with seven draw controls, three ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Timony paced the Knights with three ground balls.

Junior Jenn Hawkins (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) played the first half in goal for Elizabethtown and made two saves, with sophomore Becca Watkins (Herndon, VA/Westfield) making two saves in the second half. Michelle Leone finished with 10 saves for Arcadia.
