Blue Jays Rout Wilkes 21-6

EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. --- Junior Anna Ford (Salisbury, MD/Homeschooled) scored a game-high five goals to lift Elizabethtown College to a 21-6 victory over Wilkes University in Middle Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Jays (5-4 overall, 2-1 MAC), coming off a tough 9-8 double-overtime loss at nationally-ranked Dickinson College on Friday afternoon, jumped to a 6-0 lead and led 13-3 at halftime over the Lady Colonels (4-4 overall, 0-2 MAC).

Sophomore Megan Byrnes (Lutherville, MD/Towson) added four goals and two assists and junior Danielle Schaffer (Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) scored three times for the Blue Jays, who received goals from 10 different players in the win.

Junior Katie Foley (Palmyra, NJ/Holy Cross) posted two goals and three assists, and first-year student Meg Cassels (Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) scored twice for Elizabethtown, while scoring one goal each were juniors Kelsea Kozak (Brookhaven, PA/Sun Valley) and Dana Simmons (Flourtown, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) along with first-year students Ashley Mogle (Leola, PA/Conestoga Valley), Sarah Behounek (Street, MD/North Harford) and Kelly Lurz (Baltimore, MD/Towson Catholic).

Mogle also dished out a team-high four assists for the Blue Jays, while Kozak added three helpers and sophomore Alisha Sangrey (Columbia, PA/Hempfield) had a pair of assists.

Justine Leggio led Wilkes with three goals, while Ashley Leggio had two goals and four assists for the Lady Colonels.

Foley led the Blue Jays with four ground balls and four caused turnovers to go with three draw controls, while Ashley Leggio led the Lady Colonels with three ground balls and three draw controls.

Junior Jenn Hawkins (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) played the first half and sophomore Becca Watkins (Herndon, VA/Westfield) played the second half in goal for Elizabethtown, with each making three saves. Stacy Fimmano finished with 13 saves for Wilkes.
