ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WRESTLING Etown Opens 2002-03 Season with Eighth Place Finish at Messiah Invitational GRANTHAM, Pa. --- Elizabethtown opened its 2002-03 season with an eighth-place showing at the Messiah Invitational. The Blue Jays, suffering from a small roster this season, did not compete in two weight classes and recorded 11 points in the tournament. In individual performances, 125-pound Etown junior Eric Boyle (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks East) got a win on a pin in 2:29 over sixth-seeded J.R. Fiddler of Waynesburg. Boyle was seeded fifth in his weight class. Etown's only other pin of the day came at 133 pounds, as sophomore Tom Elicker (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) win in 5:29 in one of his bouts. Also registering victories for the Blue Jays was 165-pounder Matt Eder (Eldersburg, MD/McDonogh), who won a pair of bouts, one in a 4-1 decision, and another in a 13-3 major decision. Sophomore Joe Sahd (Lititz, PA/Lancaster Catholic) won a 10-1 major decision in his first bout of the day at 141 pounds. Also, 184-pound sophomore Eric Guise (Bendersville, PA/Biglerville) scored an 11-6 upset decision over fourth-seeded Lee Vodofsky of King's. Etown will return to action on the road Saturday, November 16 at the King's College Invitational in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. At Grantham, Pa.
