ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WRESTLING Stevens Tech (Pa.) Downs Elizabethtown, 29-18 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown hosted neighbor Stevens Tech of Lancaster, PA, a national powerhouse among junior college wrestling programs, Friday night and fell to the Battling Bulldogs 29-18. The result does not count in Elizabethtown's dual match record, however, as, according to NCAA rules, only matches against four-year institutions count in a team's record. Stevens Tech began with a 12-0 lead to start the match as Etown had to forfeit the first two would-be bouts at 184 and 197 pounds. Stevens Tech increased its lead to 16-0 when Fred Heim defeated Mike Mayberry (Taneytown, MD/Francis Scott Key) in a 13-4 major decision. The next bout was at 125 pounds, where Etown junior Eric Boyle (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks East) narrowly missed pulling off a major upset of nationally ranked Mike Gardner of Stevens Tech. Boyle had jumped out to an 8-2 lead, but ultimately lost a 12-11 decision as Stevens Tech increased its lead to 19-0. Stevens Tech had to forfeit at 133 pounds, but came back at 141 pounds as Andy Reitterer scored a 18-9 major decision win over Etown sophomore Joe Sahd (Lititz, PA/Lancaster Catholic). Jeremiah Longenecker won on a pin for Stevens Tech at 1:45 in the 149-pound weight class, and the Battling Bulldogs increased their lead to 23-6. Stevens Tech forfeited its 157-pound bout to Etown freshman Vincent Camacho (Harrison, NY/Harrison). Camacho then went on to wrestle in an exhibition bout against Billy Spangler, a larger competitor from Stevens Tech. Despite the disadvantage in size, Camacho won the exhibition bout in a 10-4 decision. Matt Eder (Eldersburg, MD/McDonogh) of Elizabethtown won at 165 pounds on a pin at 2:18 over Stevens Tech's Mike Reeser, and suddenly Elizabethtown found itself back in the match with one bout to go and down 23-18. Brandon Kauffman of Stevens Tech put an end to Elizabethtown's hopes for victory by winning on a pin at 0:56 in the final bout at 174 pounds and sealing the score at 29-18. Elizabethtown will return to action in the Scranton Invitational Sunday, December 8. At Elizabethtown, Pa.
