Nationally 25th-Ranked Delaware Valley Defeats Elizabethtown 38-6

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College dropped to 2-4 in dual matches Wednesday night with a 38-6 loss to nationally 25th-ranked Delaware Valley College in a Middle Atlantic Conference match. The visiting Aggies improved to 2-1 in dual matches with the win.

In the first bout at 125 pounds, Delaware Valley’s Zach Holt (Mammoth, PA/Mt. Pleasant) posted a 6-2 win after four overtimes. Justin Shorts (Germansville, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) followed with a 15-5 major decision win for Delaware Valley at 133 pounds, and at 141 pounds, the Aggies’ Brandon Earlston (Danville, PA/Danville) won on a pin at 1:19.

Elizabethtown got on the scoreboard at 149 pounds as first-year student Jereme Heisey (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) won a 4-3 decision. Etown’s Rob Bozart (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff) followed with a 3-1 decision victory at 157 pounds.

At 165 pounds, John Powell (Point Pleasant, NJ/Brick Memorial) had a 13-0 major decision win for Delaware Valley, and DVC’s Ryan Pope (Mt. Holly, NJ/Rancocas) won on a pin in 0:58 at 174 pounds. Paul Donnell (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) garnered a forfeit win for the Aggies at 184 pounds.

Delaware Valley then won the night’s final two matches as Mike Berlanda (Kutztown, PA/Upper Perkiomen) secured a 14-8 decision at 197 pounds, and as Kevin Orr (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) won on a pin in 27 seconds at heavyweight.

Elizabethtown will return to action on the road against MAC rival Lycoming College Saturday, December 10 in a 6:00 p.m. match. Please note the change in the start time from its originally scheduled start one half hour earlier.
