Elizabethtown Places 19th at Wheaton (Ill.) Pete Willson Invitational; Two Blue Jays Placewinners

WHEATON, Ill. --- Elizabethtown College finished 19th out of 29 teams with a score of 25 points at the Wheaton College (Ill.) Pete Willson Invitational Friday and Saturday. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won the tournament with a score of 146.5. Two Elizabethtown wrestlers were placewinners in the tournament.

At 133 pounds, seventh-seeded Eric Rhoads (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) won three bouts by 3-1, 8-6 and 8-6 scores en route to placing sixth overall in his weight class. At 197 pounds, sixth-seeded Deron Sharp (Millville, NJ/Millville) won three bouts, including a 14-7 decision, a pin in 6:57 and a 3-2 decision on the way to placing eighth in his weight class.

Also picking up more than one win in the tournament was Paul Connor (Tabernacle, NJ/Shawnee) at 165 pounds, as he won two matches on 14-10 and 5-1 decisions.

Elizabethtown will return to action at home Wednesday, January 31 in a 7:30 p.m. dual match against NCAA Division II member Kutztown University.
