ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College took down former Middle Atlantic Conference rival Lycoming College 19-16 at home Monday night to improve to 5-5 in dual matches in 2006-07. The win, which was decided on the final match of the night, gives Elizabethtown its highest dual match win total since 1999-00, when the Blue Jays went 12-6-1. It was also the first win for fourth-year Etown head coach Eric Walker over his alma mater. Lycoming dropped to 10-9 in dual matches with the loss.

Lycoming never led at any point in the match. The Blue Jays began by taking a 4-0 lead at 125 pounds as Peter Achilles (Geneva, NY/Geneva) won a 13-2 major decision. Etown plowed ahead 7-0 as Terry Bartholomew (Point of Rocks, MD/Brunswick) scored a takedown in the final seconds of his 133 pound match to wrap up a dramatic 10-8 comeback win.

Lycoming cut the gap to 7-3 at 141 pounds with a 6-0 decision, but Elizabethtown’s Bud Croswell (Newark, DE/Sanford) secured a 3-2 decision at 149 pounds that was decided by riding time to push the Blue Jays ahead 10-3. Lycoming tied the match 10-10 by winning an 8-4 decision at 157 pounds and an 8-0 major decision at 165 pounds.
