Elizabethtown Places Seventh of 12 at King’s Tournament; Four Blue Jays Place Fourth or Higher

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. --- Twenty Elizabethtown wrestlers competed at the King’s College (Pa.) Tournament Saturday, and together they totaled 43 wins on the day. Demonstrating just how far Elizabethtown’s wrestling program has progressed, those 43 wins in one day were more than the Blue Jays totaled in the entire 2002-03 season. As a team, Elizabethtown placed seventh out of 12 teams with a score of 107 points. York College (Pa.) won the tournament with a score of 162.

Four Blue Jays were place-winners in their respective weight classes. At 184 pounds, Josh Herbert (Middletown, OH/Madison) placed third by going 4-1 for the day. At 197 pounds, Deron Sharp (Millville, NJ/Millville) also placed third as he went 5-1 with a major decision. At 133 pounds, Eric Rhoads (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) went 3-2 to place fourth. Jereme Heisey (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) placed fourth at 157 pounds, going 4-2 on the day. Although he did not place, Etown’s Bud Croswell (Newark, DE/Sanford) went 5-2 with two technical falls, two pins and a major decision at 149 pounds.

Elizabethtown will return to action Tuesday, November 14 at home against Johns Hopkins University at 7:30 p.m.
