ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WRESTLING Elizabethtown Defeats Stevens, 21-20 PLEASE NOTE: The original score of the match was Stevens 20, Elizabethtown 18. The Stevens entry at 184 pounds was subsequently determined to be ineligible, therefore Stevens forfeited that weight class and gave Elizabethtown three more team points and the win. First year student Marty Harnish (Marietta, PA/Donegal) started the dual meet with a 3rd period fall over Kyle Brisson to give the Blue Jays a 6-0 lead, Stevens came back to win the next two matches for a 7-6 lead. Sophomore Bud Croswell (Newark, DE/Sanford School) held off Leo Dormann to win by decision 7-5 to give the Blue Jays a 9-7 lead. The Blue Jays (4-6 overall) needed to win the final three weights to win the dual meet, at 184lbs, first year student Josh Cook (Gardners, PA/Boiling Springs) kept the victory in sight with a 6-5 decision win (Later won by forfeit), sophomore Deron Sharp (Millville, NJ/Millville) put Etown up 18-17 by recording his 3rd fall of the season at the 6:27 mark over Ernie Guaimano. The dual meet came down to the 285lb wrestlers, and sophomore Tim Katzaman (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) went into to overtime with James Roarty after a 1-1 regulation score. In the first ride-out period, Katzaman was able to escape to take a 2-1 lead, but in the 2nd ride-out period, Katzaman was called for a penalty point for locking hands and couldn’t hold onto to Roarty dropping a 3-2 sudden-victory decision to give Stevens (2-1 overall) the win. In other Blue Jay wrestling action, a group of Etown wrestlers competed at the Ursinus College Homecoming Invitational. Sophomore Josh Herbert (Middletown, OH/Madison) took second at 197 pounds while sophomore Mike Daub (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita) was third at 285 pounds to help Elizabethtown finish seventh out of nine schools with 21.5 points.
