Messiah Captures 19-18 Win Over Elizabethtown

GRANTHAM, Pa. --- Nationally-ranked essiah College edged Elizabethtown College 19-18 in non-conference wrestling action on Wednesday evening.

The Blue Jays (4-7 overall) won five bouts on the evening against the 23rd-ranked Falcons (8-7 overall), but a major-decision win at 174 pounds proved to be the difference for Messiah.

First-year student Marty Harnish (Marietta, PA/Donegal) picked up a 5-2 victory at 125 pounds for the Blue Jays, while junior Jereme Heisey (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) claimed a 3-1 win at 157 pounds to bring Etown within 9-6.

After a fall and a major decision gave Messiah a 19-6 lead, Elizabethtown came with back-to-back wins by decision, as first-year student Bill Meaney (Toms River, NJ/Manchester Twp.) captured a 7-6 win at 184 pounds and sophomore Deron Sharp (Millville, NJ/Millville) was an 8-4 winner at 197 pounds.

Sophomore Tim Katzaman (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) wrapped up the evening with a fall in 48 seconds at 285 pounds.
