ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WRESTLING Elizabethtown Falls at Home to King's, 25-20 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College dropped a Metropolitan Intercollegiate Wrestling Association bout with King's College on Thursday night, 25-20. First-year student Marty Harnish (Marietta, PA/Donegal) put the Blue Jays on the board first at 125lbs with an 11-10 decision over Rich Dorsey. Etown forfeited to David Morgan at 133lbs, and first-year student Jarrod Cawley (Fleetwood, PA/Oley Valley) lost by fall at 141lbs to give Kings a 12-3 advantage. Sophomore Bud Croswell (Newark, DE/Sanford School) exploded for 13 points in the 1st period on route to a 15-0 tech fall in 3:22 to close the gap to 12-8. The most exciting bout of the evening came at 157lbs, as junior Jereme Heisey (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) needed four extra minutes to win 3-2 in the fourth ride-out period. Sophomore Mike Lussier (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) needed just 2:45 to secure the fall over Ryan Trees at 165 pound to give the Blue Jays a 17-12 lead, but King's pulled within 17-16 at 174lbs on a 12-3 major decision by Mike Reilly over sophomore Paul Connor (Tabernacle, NJ/Shawnee). Etown fell behind 22-17 after 184lbs, as first year student Josh Cook (Gardners, PA/Boiling Springs) had built a 9-6 lead with only 15 seconds left in the 2nd period, but was put into a bad position by Zach Martinez of King's and gave up the defensive pin with one second left in the period. First-year student Bill Meaney (Toms River, NJ/Manchester Twp) closed the gap to 22-20 with a thrilling 6-2 decision in overtime over Zach Wiilkinson at 197lbs. Sophomore Tim Katzaman (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) dropped an 8-4 decision to Justin Bender to close the match. King's 25, Elizabethtown 20 |
