FIVE BLUE JAYS ADVANCE TO REGIONAL SEMIFINALS

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. --- Five Elizabethtown wrestlers have advanced to the semifinal round at the NCAA East Regional tournament on Friday afternoon at Ursinus College.

Top-seeded and MAC champions Bill Van Winkle (118) and Tim Jordan (Hwt) are two victories away from a trip to the NCAA national meet, as are teammates Eric Dusko (177), Art Mattes (190) and defending 142-pound regional champion Bobby Onorato.

Rick Buchwald (134) and Dan Bechtold (158) both fell in early round competition and will see consolation round action this evening.

The championship finals will take place beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Each individual champion earns an automatic bid to the 1998 NCAA national meet. Ten wild cards will also be chosen by the coaches to advance to nationals.
