ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WRESTLING
BLUE JAYS PIN FOUR EN ROUTE TO 33-17 VICTORY OVER YORK ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Four Blue Jays registered pins to lead Elizabethtown to a 33-17 victory over York on Tuesday. With the win, the Jays improved to 3-1 on the season. 125-pounder Bill VanWinkle (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) and Mike Fierro (149) won by fall in the early-going to stake the Jays to a 15-6 lead. The win was the first of Fierro's collegiate career. York pulled to within 18-17 after a technical fall victory by John Craig at 165 and a forfeit win for John Wampler (York, Pa./York Catholic) at 174, but Josh Boyer (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) gave Etown breathing room with a 9-7 decision over Chris Hoffman at 184. Art Mattes (197) and Ryan Sellars (Hwt) then closed out the bout by pinning their opponents in under two minutes to give the Blue Jays a 33-17 win. Etown returns to action on Friday, December 4 at the two-day, Gerald Petrofes Invitational at Lebanon Valley College.
