ETOWN FINISHES FOURTH AT MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS; MATTES QUALIFIES FOR NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

SCRANTON, Pa. --- Elizabethtown finished fourth overall in the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by the University of Scranton Friday and Saturday. Although no Etown grapplers won their weight classes to qualify automatically for the national championships, Art Mattes (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) finished second at 197 pounds and received one of the MAC's two wild card berths to advance to the NCAA Division III Championships, to be held Friday and Saturday, March 3 and 4, at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.

Etown finished with a total of 41.5 points in the two day event. Jason Aurand (Lititz, PA/Warwick) finished fourth in the conference at 157 pounds, and Josh Boyer (Hanover, PA/Delone Catholic) also finished fourth at heavyweight. Dan Bechtold (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) and Eric Dusko (Pottstown, PA/Pottstown) placed third at 174 and 184 pounds, respectively.
