ETOWN, NAZARETH WIN IN FIRST ROUND OF '98 BLUE JAY CLASSIC

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Kristy Wade scored a hat trick and Rachel Luetke added a key insurance goal as Elizabethtown stopped Randolph-Macon, 4-0, in the first round of the Blue Jay Classic on Saturday.

Etown (2-0) can capture the tournament title with a win or tie against Nazareth on Sunday.  The Golden Flyers edged Gettysburg, 1-0, in the afternoon's first contest.

Wade, who became the second Blue Jay in program history to surpass 100 points with a six-point effort on Wednesday, scored off a pass from Andrea Thompson at the 5:17 mark to give the hosts a 1-0 edge.

Luetke and Wade then gave the Jays breathing room by combining for three goals in a three-minute, 53-second span late in the second half.  Jen Helsel added a pair of assists for Etown.

Beth Kirby led the Yellow Jackets (0-1) with three shots while goalie Carrie Plunket tallied five saves.  Bethann Rumpp also stopped five shots to record her first shutout of the season for Etown.

In the first game of the day, Michelle Urbanski scored on a partial breakaway in the first minute of the second half to lift Nazareth over Gettysburg, 1-0.  Urbanski led the Golden Flyers with five shots on goal.  Beth O'Boyle kept the Bullets in it with seven saves for Gettysburg.

Gettysburg will face Randolph-Macon Sunday's first matchup.  Game time is 1 p.m.  Etown and Nazareth will square off at 3 p.m.
