ETOWN RECLAIMS FIRST PLACE IN COMMONWEALTH LEAGUE WITH 5-1 WIN OVER WIDENER ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Kristy Wade scored two goals and Nicole Hundley added three assists as Elizabethtown downed Widener, 5-1, in MAC Commonwealth League action on Tuesday. With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 7-5-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the league. Andrea Thompson, Becky Nocito and Denise Gordon also scored goals as Etown reclaimed a share of first place in the Commonwealth League from the Pioneers (7-4-1, 3-1). Lisa Blanker made two saves to pick up the win in the Blue Jay nets. Chris Peklak scored for Widener after a great individual effort to break the shutout in the 73rd minute. The goal was her team-best 14th of the season. Wade, who also had an assist, now has 18 goals and 44 points for the season and is well within striking distance of the program records of 22 goals and 56 points in a season, both marks she set in 1997. Thompson tied her personal best with eight goals in a season. Etown, currently in a tie for fifth place
in the Mid-Atlantic region, returns to action on Saturday, October 10 at
Georgian Court College, where the Jays will take on Berry College, the
No. 2-ranked team in the NAIA. Game time is 2 p.m.
