ETOWN CLOSES REGULAR SEASON WITH 3-0 LOSS AT COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY; JAYS OPEN MAC PLAYOFFS ON WEDNESDAY

EWING, N.J. --- Brianne Vasquez scored a goal and added an assist as the College of New Jersey blanked Elizabethtown, 3-0, in non-league action on Monday.  With the loss, the Blue Jays wrapped up their regular season with a 9-8-1 record.

Jessica Gonzalez and Tracy Mateyka also scored goals as the Lions (14-2-1 and ranked 6th in Division III) avenged their only loss of the 1997 season, a 2-1 Etown win in last season's NCAA tournament.

Bethann Rumpp made 11 saves in the net for Etown, which managed only two shots and one corner kick for the game.

The Blue Jays return to action on Wednesday, October 28 when they host a Middle Atlantic Conference semifinal match against the University of Scranton.  Game time is 2 p.m.  With a victory, Etown would host either Messiah or Drew in the MAC championship on Saturday, October 31.
