COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY DEFEATS KEENE ST., 6-0, ETOWN FALLS TO WILLIAM SMITH, 2-1, IN BLUE JAY CLASSIC

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The College of New Jersey defeated Keene State (NH), 6-0, and William Smith won over Elizabethtown, 2-1, in the second day of the Blue Jay Classic held at Etown Sunday.

The College of New Jersey (2-0) dominated the day's first game against Keene State (0-2), out-shooting the Owls 17-1 and getting 11 corner kicks. After scoring two early in the first half, TCNJ exploded for four goals in the final 28 minutes of play. Denise Buckley (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Boro) initiated the barrage by scoring a goal at 62:00 and assisting the next at 70:00. Courtney Wade (Barnstead, NH/Kingswood) made eight saves in the goal for Keene.

In the second game, William Smith jumped out to a 2-0 first half lead on a goal by Stephanie Leville (Ossining, NY/Ossining), assisted by Kristin Perrigo (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), in the opening minutes, and on a goal by Erika Turner (Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) at 35:18, also assisted by Perrigo. Etown's only goal came with nine minutes left to play, when Amy Frederick (Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) netted a penalty kick for the first goal of her collegiate career.

Elizabethtown returns to action Thursday, September 7 on the road against Franklin and Marshall. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
