ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown shut out Commonwealth Conference opponent Susquehanna 4-0 Tuesday to improve its conference mark to 3-0 and its overall record to 6-5-1. With the loss, Susquehanna falls to 2-2 in the conference and 7-3 overall.
The Blue Jays bombarded Susquehanna with 27 shots to the Crusaders' six. Dina Jingoli (Morrisville, PA/Notre Dame, NJ) put Etown on the board with a goal assisted by Nicole Hundley (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) only 1:37 into the game.
Etown jumped out to a 2-0 lead less than ten minutes into the game when Andrea Thompson (West Lawn, PA/Holy Name) scored on an assist from Kierstin Rowe (Harrisburg, PA/Lower Dauphin) at 9:21.
With the first goal of her collegiate career, Amy Davies (Vienna, VA/Morristown-Beard School) made the score 3-0 in Etown's favor 9:30 before halftime on an assist by Eileen Fretz (Stroudsburg, PA/Notre Dame).
The only goal of the second half came at 80:54 and was scored by Brienne Spangler (Leola, PA/Warwick), her second of the season, and was again assisted by Fretz.
Etown goalkeeper Anna Daciw (Aston, PA/Sun Valley) made five saves to earn the shutout victory.
Etown returns to action at home Thursday, October 5 against Division II West Chester. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
