ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 9-5-1 overall and 4-0 in the Commonwealth Conference with a 6-1 home victory Tuesday over Widener.
Elizabethtown out shot the Pioneers 33-6 for the game. Although the Blue Jays out shot Widener 16-2, in the first half, the score remained tied going into halftime.
Dina Jingoli (Morrisville, PA/Notre Dame, NJ) broke the stalemate for Etown at 48:46 with a goal on an assist from Nicole Hundley (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township). Jingoli and Hundley each totaled two goals and one assist in the game.
Elizabethtown's Andrea Thompson (West Lawn, PA/Holy Name) scored the game's final goal and assisted an earlier Etown score. In so doing, she became only the third player in the history of the program to reach a career point total over 100. Thompson now has 101 career points.
The only other goal scorer for Elizabethtown was Brienne Spangler (Leola, PA/Warwick), who has now either had an assist or scored a goal in the last four consecutive games.
Widener's only goal came with 17:20 remaining in the game after Elizabethtown built up a 4-0 lead. It was scored by Lauren Forcina and assisted by Kim Dale.
Etown returns to action at home Thursday, October 12 against Juniata. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
