ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown ripped apart Commonwealth Conference foe Juniata, 12-0, at home Thursday. With the win, Etown improves to 10-5-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference, while Juniata falls to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the Commonwealth. Also, the win was the 99th of Etown head coach Barry Dohner's collegiate career.
The Blue Jays sprang out to a 4-0 lead in just the first fifteen minutes on goals by Dina Jingoli (Morrisville, PA/Notre Dame, NJ), Nicole Hundley (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) and a pair by Rachel Chieppa (Cheswick, PA/Springdale).
Brienne Spangler (Leola, PA/Warwick) made the score 5-0 one minute before halftime.
Elizabethtown went up 9-0 in the first fifteen minutes of the second half as Christy Callahan (Dallas, PA/Dallas), Hundley, Tara Budinetz (Treichlers, PA/Northampton) and Amy Frederick (Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) scored goals.
Budinetz struck again with 20:01 remaining to put Etown into double digits, and Rebecca Wise (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) and Nikki Smith (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) netted the final two goals.
The goals by Budinetz, Smith and Wise were all the first goals of their collegiate careers.
Etown returns to action in pursuit of Dohner's 100th career win at home against Lebanon Valley Saturday, October 14. Game time is 11:00 a.m.
