Etown Falls to Defending Conference Champion Messiah, 4-1

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown traveled to the home of defending Commonwealth Conference champion Messiah Saturday, and fell to the Falcons by a 4-1 score. With the loss, the Blue Jays are now 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference, while Messiah improves to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Elizabethtown's only goal was scored by Kelly Drumel (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Regional) 24:03 into the game to briefly tie the score at 1-1. Dina Jingoli (Morrisville, PA/Notre Dame-NJ) assisted the goal.

Messiah's Kelly Hess (Morgantown, PA/Lancaster Mennonite) scored the game's first goal at 12:40, and a goal by Emily Benson (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) gave Messiah a 2-1 lead going into halftime. Messiah added two more goals in the second half, scored by Erin Benedict (Lititz, PA/Warwick) and Jamie Gasiorowski (Jarrettsville, MD/Harford Christian).

Elizabethtown goaltender Amy Weid (Turnersville, NJ/Pitman) made 12 saves for the Blue Jays.
Etown will return to action Tuesday, September 18 on the road against Albright. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
