Blue Jays Get Pair of Wins at North Carolina Wesleyan Tournament

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. --- Elizabethtown improved to 7-2 overall with a pair of wins at the North Carolina Wesleyan Tournament Saturday and Sunday. The Blue Jays opened up the tournament with a 1-0 win over host NC Wesleyan Saturday, and defeated Christopher Newport 2-1 Sunday.

Courtney Phillips (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) scored the golden goal against North Carolina Wesleyan Saturday 31 minutes into the game. North Carolina Wesleyan actually outshot the Blue Jays 14-13.

Katierose Riegger (Baltimore, MD/Catholic) scored both goals for the Blue Jays in Sunday's 2-1 win over Christopher Newport, a game which was halted by lightning in the 69th minute and resumed over 45 minutes later.

Elizabethtown returns to action on the road Thursday, September 27 against regional rival Gettysburg. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
