ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S SOCCER Etown Wins Conference Opener, 7-0, over Albright ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown won its 2002 Commonwealth Conference opener with a 7-0 blowout over Albright Tuesday night. The victory also improves Etown to 6-5 overall, taking the Blue Jays above .500 for the first time this season. Albright fell to 6-4-1 overall and 0-2 in the conference with the loss. Rebecca Young (Macungie, PA/Emmaus) scored each of the Blue Jays first two goals in the opening five minutes of the game, and she was assisted by Kelly Drumel (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway) both times. A goal by Heather Newswanger (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove), assisted by Courtney Phillips (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) at 30 minutes gave Etown a 3-0 lead heading into halftime. Jessie Cromley (New Columbia, PA/Milton) scored on another assist by Phillips at 58:10. A Sara Hassinger (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) goal at 66 minutes off an assist by Danielle Grubb (Danville, PA/Danville) made the score 5-0 in Etown's favor. Grubb scored a goal of her own off assists by Newswanger and Becky Wise (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) at 70:45, and Megan Halladay (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) scored Etown's final goal on an unassisted blast from 45 yards out at 72:03. Elizabethtown out-shot Albright 31-4, and the Blue Jays have totaled 19 goals in their last two games. Etown returns to action at home Thursday, October 3 against Gettysburg in a 7:00 p.m. game.
