Etown Falls to Susquehanna, 2-1, Concludes Regular Season 9-9-1 Overall, 4-2-1 in Conference, Blue Jays Get Third Seed in Conference Playoffs, Will Travel to Susquehanna Again Wednesday for Semifinal Round

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- Playing in the make-up of a previously rained out game Monday, Susquehanna defeated visiting Elizabethtown 2-1. With the loss, Elizabethtown drops to 9-9-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the Commonwealth Conference to conclude the regular season. The Blue Jays will also now receive the third seed in the conference playoffs. With the win, Susquehanna concludes its regular season 7-7-3 overall and 4-1-2 in the conference, and it will receive the second seed in the conference playoffs.

Etown got off to a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute of the game when Courtney Phillips (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) found the back of the net. Susquehanna tied the game on an Erin Trumbower goal at 24:00 off a corner kick. Susquehanna took the lead just eight minutes before the end of regulation time on a goal by Jess Paulshock.

Etown out-shot Susquehanna 11-9, but the host Crusaders held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks. Etown goaltender Amy Weid (Turnersville, NJ/Pitman) made three saves, while Susquehanna keeper Melissa Karschner made seven saves.

Because Etown has the third seed and Susquehanna has the second seed, the Blue Jays will get another crack at Susquehanna in Selinsgrove in the semifinal round of the Commonwealth Conference playoffs in just two days. The exact time of the Wednesday, November 6 playoff game has yet to be determined.
