ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S SOCCER Etown Hands Rowan Its First Loss of Season, 2-0, Blue Jays Improve to 5-0-2 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- In a matchup of two undefeated, regionally-ranked teams Wednesday, Elizabethtown emerged the victor over Rowan by a 2-0 margin at Ira R. Herr Field. The Blue Jays, ranked sixth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, improved to 5-0-2 with the win, while Rowan, ranked ninth in the region, dropped to 5-1 overall. Becca Young (Macungie, PA/Emmaus) scored the opening goal of the game 11:09 after the start, sinking the rebound of a shot that had bounced off Rowan goaltender Gabrielle Ditchey (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape). An identical situation produced Etown's second goal six minutes prior to the end of the game, this time with Page Guilfoyle (Newark, DE/Christiana) putting the ball home. Amy Weid (Turnersville, NJ/Pitman) made three saves for the Blue Jays in the shutout, while Ditchey made ten saves for Rowan. Etown out-shot Rowan 17-12 for the game and 11-3 in the first half. The Blue Jays also held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks. Etown will return to action after a week off Wednesday, September 24, when the Blue Jays will host Drew in a 7:00 p.m. game.
