ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S SOCCER Etown Falls to Susquehanna, 2-1, as Nevins Scores Two ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown dropped a 2-1 Commonwealth Conference game to Susquehanna at home Wednesday to drop to 7-4-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference. Susquehanna improves to 9-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference with the win. Susquehanna took full advantage of a sluggish start by the Blue Jays to score both of its goals within the opening sixteen minutes. Lindsay Nevins (Basking Ridge, NJ/Gill-St. Bernards) scored the first goal at 12:21 on a play where Etown keeper Amy Weid (Turnersville, NJ/Pitman) was drawn out of the net. Nevins chipped the ball up over Weid and, after coming down, it rolled gently into the goal. Nevins scored Susquehanna's other goal at 15:28 off a corner kick by Alecia Gold (Turbotville, PA/Warrior Run). As the game went on, Elizabethtown began to reassert control of play, but the Blue Jays were never able to regain the ground lost in the beginning of the game, despite ultimately out-shooting Susquehanna 9-7 in the first half and 7-2 in the second half. Courtney Phillips (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) scored Etown's lone goal at 40:14 on a shot from the left corner of the field. Etown held a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks in addition to its advantage in shots. Susquehanna goalie Melissa Karschner (Montoursville, PA/Montoursville) made eight saves, including five in the second half.
