Etown Downs Widener, 3-0, as Becca Young Scores Twice

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown downed Commonwealth Conference rival Widener 3-0 at home Saturday during its Homecoming festivities. The Blue Jays improve to 8-4-2 overall and 2-2 in the conference with the win, while Widener drops to 5-8 overall and 2-3 in the Commonwealth.

Becca Young (Macungie, PA/Emmaus) scored each of Etown's first two goals in the first half, netting the first unassisted at 23:11 and scoring the second at 32:57 off a Courtney Phillips (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) assist. Keeley Trumbo (Jeffersonville, PA/Great Valley) tallied Etown's final goal unassisted at 59:13.

Etown out-shot Widener 13-6, and Blue Jay first-year goaltender Dawn Mellen (Warren, NJ/Watchung Hills Regional) made six saves to preserve the shutout.

Etown will return to action on the road Thursday, October 23 against Moravian in a 3:30 p.m. conference game.
