SUNY-Geneseo Drops Etown 2-0, Christopher Newport Ties College of New Jersey 1-1, on Final Day of Jako Blue Jay Classic

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown dropped to 1-2 overall with a 2-0 loss to SUNY-Geneseo on the final day of the Jako Blue Jay Classic in Elizabethtown Sunday. SUNY-Geneseo improved to 1-2 overall with the win. In the day's other game, Christopher Newport (1-0-1) tied the College of New Jersey (2-0-1), which is currently ranked fourth in the nation.

Emily Petraglia scored the first goal for SUNY-Geneseo at 69:57, and Jackie Powers netted the second goal at 77:02. From 78:18 on, SUNY-Geneseo played with ten players following a red card. In the foul in the box that occurred on the same play, Etown had a chance to score on a direct kick but missed. SUNY-Geneseo out-shot Etown 16-8 over the course of the game.

Christopher Newport goaltender Lindsay Naill made nine saves to keep the underdog Captains in the game against a College of New Jersey onslaught that held a 22-4 advantage in shots over the course of 110 minutes. Nikki Greenberg scored Christopher Newport's goal just 14 seconds into the game, and Brittny Boyd added the College of New Jersey's goal 20 minutes into the game.

Hillary Carney of Christopher Newport was named the Defensive MVP of the Jako Blue Jay Classic, and Dana DiBruno of the College of New Jersey was named the Offensive MVP.
