Franklin & Marshall Edges Elizabethtown, 1-0

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- A 2-1 road loss to Franklin & Marshall Thursday evening dropped Elizabethtown College's women's soccer team to 1-3 overall. F & M improved to 3-0 in 2004 with the victory.

The Blue Jays out-shot F & M 9-8 and held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks, but Franklin & Marshall scored two goals late in the first half and held on for the win. The Diplomats scored their first goal in the 34th minute when Emily Knapp scored on a cross pass from Sarah Evans. Just over five minutes later, F & M struck again when Amanda Zambrano netted another cross pass, this time coming from Kelly Cassels.

Elizabethtown sliced F & M's lead to one goal in the 68th minute when defender Lindsay Brown (Myerstown, PA/ELCO) nailed home an unassisted shot from the middle of the box. Melissa Ruff made seven saves in the F & M net to preserve the Diplomat victory.

Etown will return to action on the road Monday, September 13 on the road against Rowan University in a 7:00 p.m. game.
