Etown Wins Second in a Row, Downs Goucher 2-0

BALTIMORE, Md. --- Elizabethtown College won its second consecutive game and improved to 3-3 overall Saturday with a 2-0 road win over Goucher College, which drops to 1-4 overall with the loss.

Kelly Drumel (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Regional) scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal just 1:38 before halftime. Etown added an insurance goal 3:24 into the second half when Heather Newswanger (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove Area) scored off an assist by first-year Jamie Alvanitakis (Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove). It was the first assist of Alvanitakis' collegiate career.

Despite just two goals scored, the Blue Jay offense pounded Goucher and held a 27-3 advantage in shots. Goucher goalie Stephanie Ricketts made 21 saves to keep the score close. Etown goaltender Dawn Mellen (Warren, NJ/Watchung Hills Regional) made one save to earn the shutout, her first of the season.

Etown will return to action on the road Tuesday, September 21 at Eastern University in a 4:00 p.m. game.
