ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S SOCCER Elizabethtown Gets 200th Win in Program History with 1-0 Overtime Victory over Scranton; Etown Goalie Pam Ostroski Assists Game-Winner Moments after Scranton Shot SCRANTON, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College hit the 200 all-time win mark in dramatic fashion Saturday, defeating the University of Scranton 1-0 in overtime on the road. Etown improves to 4-2 overall in 2005, while Scranton drops to 0-4-2 with the loss. The victory, which in addition to being the 200 th in the history of the Etown women’s soccer program, was also the 149th win for Etown head coach Barry Dohner. The winning goal came 6:13 into overtime in an unusual manner. Moments before, a Scranton corner kick at Elizabethtown’s end of the field nearly resulted in a goal for the host Royals, as Scranton sophomore Laura Gibbons headed the kick toward the Etown net. Blue Jay goalie Pam Ostroski (York Haven, PA/Red Land) made a save on the play and booted the ball hard down the right sideline. Ostroski’s kick found a streaking Jenna Russo (Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park), who beat one Scranton defender and drilled a shot from about 22 yards out past Royal goalie Jackie Colley, who came out of the net to defend against the play. The shot was good, and the game was over. It was the first assist by a goaltender for the Elizabethtown women’s soccer team since 1997. Scranton out-shot Elizabethtown 15-9, and Ostroski made six saves over the course of the game to preserve the overtime shutout. Colley made five saves for Scranton. Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Wednesday, September 21 against York College ( Pa.) in a 4:00 p.m. game. Elizabethtown Coll.
