Elizabethtown Head Coach Barry Dohner Gets 150th Career Win as Blue Jays Beat York 3-2

YORK, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College head coach Barry Dohner picked up the 150th victory of his collegiate coaching career Wednesday as the Blue Jays defeated host York College ( Pa.) 3-2. The milestone win came one game after Etown reached the 200 all-time victory plateau in its Saturday 1-0 road win over the University of Scranton. Etown is now 5-2 overall in 2005, and York suffered its first loss of the season, dropping to 6-1-1 overall. York also saw its 15-game unbeaten streak come to an end.

After a scoreless first half, the Blue Jays scored the game’s first goal 2:17 into the second half as Keeley Trumbo (Chester Springs, PA/Great Valley) scored on a header off a Lindsay Brown (Myerstown, PA/ELCO) assist. Etown went up 2-0 just over two minutes later as Trumbo scored again off an assist by Heather Newswanger (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove).

York struck back at 57:21 into the game, as Katie Orlando scored off an Emily Sullivan assist to narrow the gap to 2-1. York tied the game at 67:41, as Maura Dugan scored unassisted. The game-winner for Etown came at 83:02, when Robin Szarzynski (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) scored off Newswanger’s second assist of the day.

Etown out-shot York 20-9, and Blue Jay goalie Pam Ostroski (York Haven, PA/Red Land) made four saves in the win. Amanda Lomberg made eight saves in the York goal.

Etown will return to action Saturday, September 24 at home against Lycoming College in a 5:00 p.m. game.
