ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S SOCCER Elizabethtown ’s 2006 NCAA Tournament Run Ends With 1-0 Loss to Virginia Wesleyan in Sectionals VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. --- Elizabethtown College’s NCAA Division III tournament run ended with a 1-0 loss to host Virginia Wesleyan College in the sectionals Saturday night. Elizabethtown wraps up its season with a 14-5-3 overall record and a finish in the “Sweet Sixteen” of the NCAA tournament. Virginia Wesleyan improves to 19-3-2 overall with the win and advances to host Washington & Lee tomorrow night in the sectional championship to determine the advancer to the Final Four. The game’s lone goal came at 73:10 when Virginia Wesleyan’s Nikki Mazzoccone fired a shot off a Nikki Wilson assist that sailed into a corner of Elizabethtown’s goal. Elizabethtown held an 8-5 advantage in shots over the course of the game, although each team had four shots on goal. Elizabethtown also held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks. Elizabethtown’s drive to the third round of the NCAA Division III tournament this year was the deepest the Blue Jays had gone in the national championships since the team’s Final Four appearance in 1997. at Virginia Beach, Va.
